Rhaatid
Rhaatid is a Jamaican–German band that fuses the power of rock with the soul of reggae. Led by frontman, bassist and vocalist Roughhouse, the group delivers a high-energy, groove-driven sound that hits hard, positive and uncompromising.

Roughhouse — born Keith Powell Jr. — grew up in reggae and went on to perform with icons like Toots, Jimmy Cliff, President Brown and more. In Germany he worked with Die Fantastischen Vier, Samy Deluxe, Max Herre and Gentleman. As a solo artist he has released multiple singles across the last years, and his solo album My Intention proved early that he was ready to push reggae into new territory.
Rhaatid is where this next step happens. Together with guitarist Pomez — who comes from the German rock scene but was also deeply involved in reggae with Natty U — Rhaatid forms a true bridge between two worlds. Sgt. Pepper delivers precision and drive on drums. And guitarist Mercedes Afonso brings a modern, international edge — pushing the band’s sound forward with energy and attitude.
The influences are wide, but the target is crystal clear:
heavy groove + positive message
“System Of A Down meets Bob Marley — with the energy of Rage Against The Machine and the spirit of Rastafari.”
After strong reactions in Jamaica and Europe — including being called “the talk of the festival” at the Jamaica Jazz Festival — the next chapter is coming.
Rhaatid is currently in rehearsal mode for 2026 festival season and selected club shows, with new releases in preparation. Rhaatid: music without borders — built to unite.
